To assist commercial vessel owners and operators in meeting their requirements Marine Safety Victoria verifies that the design, construction and equipment of new and existing vessels meet minimum specified standards.
MSV is also responsible for ensuring that operators of commercial vessels are appropriately qualified, vessels are appropriately crewed, standards are set and maintained for navigational aids and marine incidents and accidents are investigated.
